A fun preschool -aged class that involves learning coordination, beginning ballet and HipHop and some jazz. During class we stretch, do fun learning songs, across the floor activities, and obstacle courses. In the upcoming Fall season this class will begin to learn tumbling moves such as: somersaults, handstands, cartwheels, etc…

Acro Classes
This class is for energetic kids who want to learn different tumbling skills! They will learn skills such as: cartwheels, handstands, back bends, etc… We will use different gymnastic tools to help with these skills as well as help us to create fun and challenging obstacle courses.
Ballet Classes
Beginning ballet focuses on gaining core strength, as well as basic ballet technique. Dancers begin to develop an understanding of the ballet barre, across the floor and ballet choreography.
Intermediate ballet builds on the skills that are learned in the beginning ballet class. This class focuses on learning single, double and yes, even triple turns, more complex combinations during center floor, and more advanced leaps. The class builds on agility and accuracy of movements that increase in complexity. Throughout the year there will be several performance opportunities! Placement in this class will be decided by the teacher.
Pre-company ballet is a ballet class that will continue on building ballet and pointe skills. Pre-Company dancers will also be learning new styles of dances including lyrical and contemporary. This class is designed to increase dancers articulation and agility as well as musical interpretation and learning how to tell a story through dance.

Tap Classes
Beginning tap class is where we explore the world of tap! We learn the different tap movements as well as timing and contrast. This class is high energy and has many different ages of students who are interested in telling a story through stomping, shuffling, and tapping!!
Intermediate/Advance tap. Dancers will learn a variety of tap styles including; Broadway, classical, soft shoe, as well as some other newer styles. This performing group will perform at all performances and build on old tap skills and new ones.
Hip Hop Classes
This beginning class combines HipHop and Jazz styles to form a HipHop that is high energy and fun! Through the combination of across the floor and choreography these dancers put together masterful dances that have loads of personality. These dancers perform in several different community shows throughout the year.
Intermediate/Advance continues to build on the skills learned from beginning HipHop. We learn how to increase the speed and creativity of our movements using the many different styles of HipHop as a guide. Students' knowledge of hip hop fundamentals will be expanded upon by explaining and demonstrating various techniques and methods. Original choreography will be taught, allowing students to discover their own hip hop style in a stress-free and fun environment, encouraging confidence building, independent creativity, and teamwork.

ArtBeat Spirit Squad
Cheer is a very high energy class that involves learning different acro skills such as: Cartwheels, handstands, roundoffs, walkovers, etc… We also learn basic cheers and positions including very basic stunting. Everyone is welcome no matter what your acro experience is. This class will be spreading their good spirit by performing and cheering at Coast Union football games, CYAA basketball games and will also perform in several community shows throughout the year including; Farmers Markets and Children’s Day in the Plaza in SLO and the Mid State Fair.
Grupo Folklorico Tradiciones De Mi Terra
Learn the beautiful and traditional folk dances of Mexico with our wonderful instructor Carmen. Grupo Folklorico allows students from all backgrounds to experience and understand dance as a component of the Mexican heritage, while also giving Mexican-American students a special opportunity to identify with and learn about their culture. This group has many performance opportunities throughout the year.

Creative movement for preschoolers helps them to develop body awareness, learn how to use their bodies in a healthy way, manage stress, builds concentration and increases their confidence and positive self image.

Sing and Ukulele
Sing and Ukulele
Did you know with three chords you can adapt pretty much every song ever written? We hope to do that and a whole lot more in our ukulele class. This class offers an eclectic mix of music as we combine fun (music games), with basic instruction in ukulele technique, and a love of learning music. Many of the techniques we learn with the ukulele are also applicable to the guitar - it is a gateway instrument that connects your student to the world of music, performance and to all the enrichment and collective joy that comes with it.
Guitar Classes
Beginning Guitar students learn the basics of how to play the guitar. Students will be given instruction on how to comfortably hold and strum the guitar. Development of basic chord shapes, understanding the strings, tuning, and technique. Introduction of staff notation, and easy to grasp, fun music, that can be taught in a group setting, with some individual attention.
Intermediate/Advanced Guitar students must have a basic understanding of guitar technique. Must have the ability to read and rehearse music using staff notation. Audition with the instructor is required to be placed into the I/A group. Students will be provided music from the canon of classical guitar repertoire, including composers from Spain, France, Italy, Mexico, and South America.

ArtBeat is always exploring the world of drums! We have had bucket drumming, percussion, drum corps and are looking into a future steel pan drum group.
Theater
Students will build theater skills such as character development, improv, general acting skills through fun theater games and scene work. This class we also learn tech, behind the scenes skills and ensemble skills.

ArtBeat partners with local artists to provide various fun and creative workshops for our local youth. Our main goal is to use the visual arts in order to build lasting connections between youth, community and local business. Past projects have included scarecrow building for the Cambria Scarecrow Festival and a “From Wales to Cambria” K-5th tile painting project.
